Create a Semi-Precious Gemstone Necklace | July 26

$150.00

Candy-colored, semi-precious gemstones and glass seed-beads combine to create an intention-filled necklace in a trendy, color-blocked style. You’ll learn the basics of beading and a bit of gemstone lore as you create, adding stones for self-love, creativity, protection, and more.

Each student will receive all the supplies needed to create their own 16-inch necklace, including: approximately 75 gemstone beads for the main color blocks; a selection of Japanese-glass seed beads for the spacers; and your choice of Sterling silver or gold-filled findings in a variety of styles for finishing.

You will learn how to:

  • Plan a color-blocked design using color theory and color palettes

  • Use jewelry-making tools such as needle nose pliers and diagonal side cutters

  • Select and use the right jewelry findings, including: cords, crimps, clasps, and jump rings

  • Select the right sizes and types of gemstones and beads for your future projects, with a list of local suppliers

  • Identify the magickal properties of several gemstones, including the ones used in your necklace

Date/Time: Saturday, July 26, 1pm-3pm; please arrive 10-15 minutes early to grab a beverage and meet your fellow classmates.

About Devon: Devon is an artist and author who is inspired by folklore and weird Pacific Northwest history.

About the Wands suit: In traditional tarot decks, Wands correspond to the element of Fire. Wands relate to inspiration, spirituality, and creativity; while the Fire element relates to, well, fiery emotions like passion and anger, energy and protection, and balancing destruction and creation. This class helps you use the element of fire by using gemstones—the result of heat and pressure on minerals—to create an intention-aligned necklace.
