Hi, I’m Devon
Hi, I’m Devon, an artist and weirdo from Washington State.
When it comes to making art, I really like exploring folklore and strange stories. My paintings, drawings, and miniature sculptures often feature weird critters, mythical creatures, and figures from folktales, and I also use a lot of symbols from witchcraft and religious iconography.
My first book, Cryptids of the Pacific Northwest, shares the stores of some of the strange animals supposedly roaming the PNW, and will be published September 29, 2026 by The History Press.
You’ll often find me exploring small-town museums and cemeteries, shopping at community art events, and haunting thrift stores.
In my former professional life, I was a marketer for several museums and retail shops, focusing on storytelling and the community connection to institutional values as the driving forces for audience-to-customer conversion. My master’s thesis was on the importance of adult-only events at children’s museums, and I think my love of things like cryptids and ghosts are a way to playfully interact with where I live.
I live near Seattle, Washington with my goofy husband and goober cat.

I just like to make stuff! I have a BFA in fine art photography, and these days I work in a lot of different mediums. Right now I’m focusing on tiny paintings, miniature sculptures, and silversmithing. You can find my work online and in various shops and shows throughout the Pacific Northwest.

My first book, Cryptids of the Pacific Northwest, comes out September 29, 2026 with The History Press. In it, I share some of the weird animals that may rub elbows (and fins?) with us here in the PNW. Stay tuned for pre-order info!

Since 2017, I’ve co-hosted the Ouija Broads podcast with my lifelong friend, Liz. We have over 150 episodes and 340,000 downloads, and listeners from across the globe tune in to hear us share weird stories from the Pacific Northwest. We talk about weird historical figures and events, ghosts and hauntings, weird animals and cryptids, and more.

In 2021, I self-published two volumes of my poetry and photography. Ghost & Graven explored themes of ghosts, hauntings, and Catholic iconography; and Folk Lore explored fairytales and folk tales. You can purchase both volumes on Blurb.

In 2012, I co-founded The Vaude Villains, a Spokane-based burlesque troupe, with the powerhouse performer Crystal Explosion. The Vaude Villains was one of the first troupes in Spokane’s burlesque revival of the 2010s, and we’re proud to have built a reputation for unexpected, artistic, and inclusive shows with some of the area’s best performers. While my move to the Seattle area meant I had to step back from co-producing, I occasionally guest emcee at shows as Butch Cassidy and love supporting the community and troupe from afar. Under Crystal Explosion’s leadership, the show has grown into something truly special: take a peek for yourself on The Vaude Villains Instagram page.

The “only women’s horror lifestyle magazine,” Scream Sirens was a print and digital publication devoted to amplifying the presence of the incredible women of horror—in movies, video games, books, and beyond. During its heyday, I was delighted to write articles and photograph editorials for several issues. While there is no new content, archival articles and photos can be found on the Scream Sirens Facebook page.

In 2018 and 2019, I wrote several articles based on Ouija Broads episode topics for Nostalgia Magazine, a now-defunct print and digital publication devoted to sharing the history of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.
